It is reported that orienteering, also known as "orienteering" running, orienteering "cross-country", and "mapping cross-country", originated in Sweden, Europe at the end of the 19th century. During the competition, participants independently searched for several ground checkpoints plotted on the map in the prescribed order with the help of the topographic map and the north compass, and completed the whole race in the shortest time. It is a new type of sports that integrates intelligence and physical ability and is full of interest, knowledge and competition. This sport focuses on cultivating students' ability to analyze and solve problems and use logical thinking, and learning how to correctly determine directions and use maps in the field. It is of great significance to exercise people's will and improve people's intelligence and physical strength.
The competition lasts for five days, and consists of six events, namely short distance race, middle distance race, point race, 100-meter orienteering, short distance mixed relay race and team race, which are divided into four groups: junior high school group, senior high school group, university group and elite group. Each project makes full use of the original ecological forest resources of Changbai Mountain, so that the participating students can display the style of brave sports while giving full play to their intelligence and physical strength.
