On December 9, the opening ceremony of the 2010 National Student Orienteering Training Course opened in Sanya. This training course aims to cultivate a large number of targeted "four understand" talents, namely, understand teaching, training, competition and management, so as to improve China's orientation level. At the same time, we hope to cultivate more teachers who can play a positive role in the popularization of orienteering in colleges and universities. Zhang Jing, Chairman of the Orienteering Branch of the China University Sports Association, Jiang Jingping, Secretary-General of the Orienteering Branch of the China University Sports Association, and others attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
At the ceremony, Zhang Jing said that the training course was held in the national student orienteering cross-country competition, combining theory and practice to better train coaches, equipment, cartography and other projects. He hoped that the coaches, leaders and athletes participating in the training course would actively discuss and communicate with each other and move forward to the world level.
Jiang Jingping said that this training course is part of the annual work of the Sports Association and also an important part of the Association's four-year plan. He also pointed out that there are many problems in orienteering in China today, such as high enthusiasm of students, lack of teachers and low training level of coaches. He hoped that the participants in the training course could cherish the opportunity to study in the training course, improve their theoretical and practical abilities, and occupy a place in the international competition with better logistics services.
After the opening ceremony, Liu Jianmin, former coach of the National Orienteering Team and Shandong University Orienteering Team, attended the training class. It is reported that during the contest from December 8 to 14, the training class will be held as scheduled every day. The one-week training is conducive to improving the professional and technical level of the coaches and referees participating in the training and facilitating the exchange and cooperation of orienteering managers across the country. At the same time, the training is conducive to the promotion and development of orienteering across the country, so that China can occupy a place in the world orienteering as soon as possible.
