Highlights of Orienteering Competition of the 9th Guangdong University Games

On the morning of June 22, the directional sports competition of the 9th Guangdong University Games, jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Sports, and hosted by Zhaoqing University, opened. After the simple and warm opening ceremony, the competition began in the campus. The reporter saw at the match site that the athletes were quickly put into combat. It is understood that this Guangdong Universiade includes 35 major events and 395 minor events. A total of 12 colleges and universities, including our university, have participated in these events. In recent years, our school has extensively carried out and actively promoted the orienteering sports, and has achieved excellent results in the provincial, domestic and even international competitions, with the overall level ranking among the top universities in the province.
On the afternoon of June 24, the awarding ceremony of the directional sports competition of the 9th Guangdong University Games was held in the concert hall of Zhaoqing University.
Zeng Huansong, the secretary of the Party Committee of Zhaoqing University, congratulated the athletes and teams who had achieved outstanding results and thanked the coaches, referees and staff in his speech. He said that the orienteering competition of the Ninth Provincial University Games not only displayed the spirit of the tenacious struggle of contemporary college students, but also fully demonstrated the improvement of orienteering and education level in our province, and fully carried forward the Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger" and "unity, friendship and progress", and also left valuable spiritual wealth for our school. The orienteering competition of the Universiade is over, but the field of life will continue. Zeng Huansong, Huang Jinsong and other leaders respectively awarded the Group A Sports Ethics Award, Group B Sports Ethics Award, the top eight in the total score of Group A for men, the top eight in the total score of Group A for women, the top eight in the total score of Group B for men, the top eight in the total score of Group B for women, the top eight in the total score of Group A, and the top eight in the total score of Group B.
Zhaoqing College won the championship of Group A and Group B in the orienteering competition of the provincial college students' sports meeting, and South China University of Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade, and Guangdong Pharmaceutical College won the top three in Group A; Shenzhen University, Hanshan Normal University and Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education were among the top three groups in Group B.
