Today, we gather in the beautiful southwest of Guizhou Province to hold the 2016 National Student Orientation Championship. Here, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the leaders and guests who attended the opening ceremony on behalf of the CPC Qianxinan Prefecture Committee, the Prefecture People's Congress, the Prefecture Government, the Prefecture CPPCC and the 3.49 million people of all ethnic groups in the prefecture! Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture was established in May 1982, with a land area of 16800 square kilometers, a permanent population of 3.49 million, and 35 ethnic groups including Han, Bouyei, Miao, Yi, Hui, etc. The minority population accounts for 42.47% of the total population. It has rich historical culture, rich ethnic customs, rich mineral resources, beautiful natural scenery and livable living environment. The "Guizhou Dragon" fossil group and the "Xingyi Man" ancient human cultural site record the development of human civilization. The Buyi people's "Eight Tone Sitting and Singing" is known as the "living fossil of sound", and the Yi people's dance "Ami Qituo" is known as the "Oriental tap dance"; Wanfeng Forest, the "Southwest Beauty", and Malinghe Canyon, the "Baili Gallery", are famous at home and abroad. For a long time, under the correct leadership of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, the people of all ethnic groups in the prefecture have made concerted efforts to promote development, and the economic development has been accelerated and the comprehensive strength has risen significantly. The gross domestic product of the prefecture has increased from 30.713 billion yuan in 2010 to 80.13 billion yuan in 2015, with an average annual growth of 14.9%, and the growth rate has jumped from the 8th place in the province to the 1st place.
Education is the cornerstone of development. Qianxinan Prefecture has always attached great importance to education and has always given priority to the development of education. Every year, a certain proportion of administrative funds are compressed for the development of education. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", Qianxinan Prefecture has comprehensively promoted the "Top Ten Education Projects", with constantly enriched educational resources, continuously improved teaching level, significantly improved school-running conditions, and significantly improved the level of teaching staff. In 2016, there were 459 candidates with more than 600 scores in the college entrance examination in the whole prefecture, an increase of 204 over the previous year, including 190 in liberal arts, ranking the third in the province, 269 in science, ranking the second in the province, especially in Xingyi No. 8 Middle School. After achieving the historical best performance of one school and three top scorers in 2015, it won the first prize in liberal arts in the whole province again this year, setting a benchmark for high-quality schools in Guizhou Province.
