From November 14th to 15th, the 2020 "Search for a Beautiful China" National Tourism City Orienteering Series Zhongshan South Station and the 15th Guangdong Orienteering Championships will be held in Beitai Village, Caobian Village, and Jinan Village, Beixi Community, Zhongshan South District. The Xi Village and Liaohou Villages were grandly held. Lin Zhong, Director of the Sports Department 5 of the Air Traffic Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports, Secretary-General of the China Radio and Orienteering Association, Huang Xianlin, Director of the Guangdong Social Sports Center, Lei Jimin, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Zhongshan City, Peng Xiaoxin, Director of the Education and Sports Bureau of Zhongshan City, Guo Yuan, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Southern District of Zhongshan City, and Xie Junjie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Southern District of Zhongshan City, and Director of the Office attended the opening ceremony of the competition.

The competition attracted more than 2,000 professional orienteering athletes and enthusiasts from inside and outside the province to register for the competition, and more than 2 million people watched the live photo live online. The competition schedule lasts for two days. The national events include middle distance races, sprint races, smart points races (using "Ono Orienteering APP Timing") and points races. The provincial championships consist of four events: relay, sprint, middle distance, and 100 meters. With the firing of the starting gun, more than 2,000 contestants set off from the square holding maps, compasses, and timing cards.

The athletes follow the map route to enjoy the joy of sports, see the beauty of the ecology and humanities in the Beixi Community of the South District, and experience the Zhan Garden where the filial piety culture is inherited in the South District, the Yanhe Residence for the revitalization and conservation of overseas Chinese houses, the Western-style building Caobian School, The altar temple Tianhou Palace in the Qing Dynasty, the Liaohou newspaper donated by overseas Chinese in the Republic of China, the Jinxi Sports Park, the ancestral residence of Yang Xianyi, the cylindrical gun tower, the famous Chinese tree "Liaohou Gurong", and the hexagonal "homesick pavilion" in Jinxi.

In order to ensure the smooth development of the event activities, Zhongshan South District specially set up a leading group for the event organizing committee, which consists of 12 working groups including work coordination, guest reception group, publicity working group, and comprehensive coordination.

Orienteering originated in Northern Europe and is now popular all over the world. With the help of maps and compasses, athletes win all the points in the shortest time. It is a stylish, energetic and healthy smart sport. The "Looking for a Beautiful China" National Tourism City Orienteering Series is not only a national key sports tourism event, but also a key sports and leisure tourism event; the Guangdong Orienteering Championship is the event with the most professional athletes participating in the province and the highest level of competition technology. This event is a combination of national and provincial competitions. It is located in the southern district of Zhongshan. It is not only a new exploration of the "sports +" development model, but also a carrier of orienteering to realize the integration of "sports + culture, sports + tourism". Development will drive sports tourism consumption, and then give play to the comprehensive effects of sports events.

Zhongshan South District is a hometown of overseas Chinese. There are more than 2,000 large and small overseas Chinese houses combining Chinese and Western styles. Recently, the Southern District has also actively promoted the preservation of overseas Chinese housing and rural revitalization. At this stage, a total of 10 beautiful rural construction projects are being carried out in an orderly manner, continuously improving the material and cultural living standards of the villagers, enhancing the sense of gain and happiness, and thus moving towards a well-off society in an all-round way.

It is understood that in recent years, Zhongshan South District has thoroughly implemented the national strategy of national fitness, based on the people’s yearning for a better life, vigorously develops sports, and actively organizes various sports events. It has held long-distance races for 30 consecutive years and held 26 consecutive years. In the tug-of-war competition on New Year's Day, more than 30 fitness stations have been built even more closely, which truly integrates "National Fitness and National Health" into the daily lives of the people in the Southern District. In recent years, the Southern District has implemented the "sports + tourism" and "sports + culture" strategies, integrating the natural endowments and human resources of 8 of the villages, building an ancient village orienteering town with a total area of more than 6 square kilometers, and making every effort to promote culture and sports. The integrated development of the tourism industry has effectively transformed the ecological advantages, cultural beauty and sports beauty of the southern district into development advantages.
