Sunshine cross-country, beautiful Sanya! On December 9, the opening ceremony of the 2010 National Student Orienteering Classic and the first National University Campus Orienteering Tour finals was held in Sanya. At the opening ceremony, with three shots fired, the match officially kicked off in the announcement of Sanya Vice Mayor Li Baiqing. Wang Gang, the full-time vice chairman of the China University Sports Association, Zhang Jing, the chairman of the orienteering branch of the China University Sports Association, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony.
This competition is sponsored by the University Sports Association of the Ministry of Education, the Orienteering Branch of the China University Sports Association, and the Sanya Municipal People's Government, and organized by the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Education. It is divided into elite groups, ordinary groups, and other groups to compete in six events, including the 100-meter orienteering, short-distance race, mid-distance race, point race, relay race, and team race. At the same time, the first National University Campus Orienteering Cross-country Tour was held.
At the ceremony, Li Baiqing, on behalf of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, thanked the University Sports Association of the Ministry of Education and the Orienteering Branch of the University Sports Association for their trust in Sanya, and expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the people from all walks of life who care about and support the development of sports and cultural undertakings in Sanya, as well as to the leaders, guests, coaches, athletes and staff who came to attend today's opening ceremony. This is the fourth time that Sanya has hosted a type of competition. He said that the selection of Sanya for this competition again will have a profound impact on the promotion of quality education and the development of orientation education in Sanya. They will take this opportunity to better develop the sports cause in Sanya and build the competition into a brand event in the national sports and education circles.
Zhang Jing said that all the orienteering cross-country competitions held in Sanya have been successful, and they have been more and more successful. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Sanya Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for this. He also talked about the role of orienteering, that is, it helps improve quality, is a special channel to cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and is a special classroom to implement quality education. The national student orienteering cross-country race is one of the six brand events in Sanya's "6+X" cultural tourism activity mode. It has been successfully held for three times in 2006, 2008 and 2009, effectively improving Sanya's popularity and influence in the national sports and education circles. This competition is an elite competition. The contestants are selected from the winners of the completed National Student Orienteering Cross-country Championship. The competition level has been significantly improved compared with the previous three championships, and the competition scene will also be more intense and exciting.

After the opening ceremony, a mid-distance race and a point race were held in Sanya Fenghuangling Park. The game will end on December 13.
